Which Coffee Grinder Should I Buy?

One of the most common questions we get asked is about what coffee grinder to buy. There’s a lot of research about why grinding your coffee fresh each morning is the best option, so we won't go into that today. Once people make this realization and want to join the magical world of freshly ground coffee, their first question to us is usually, “so which grinder should I get?”

Below are some of our favorite options for anyone wanting to step up their home brewing game!

  • One of the best hand-grinders we've used is the Heihox Manual Grinder ($100). We've tried a couple different hand-grinders and this one is definitely one of the smoothest. It's great for camping and traveling as there is no electricity needed to use it. If you're looking for one that's a little easier on the wallet to start, we recommend trying the Hario Ceramic Coffee Mill ($39). You'll get a little more of an arm workout when using it, but it does the job!
  • The Baratza Encore Conical Burr Coffee Grinder ($149) is the one we suggest most often. It's great for home use, especially for pour overs, french press, or drip coffee. We personally use the Baratza Virtuoso ($249) for our home-brewing morning routine which is similar with a few small upgrades. Either one is highly recommended.
  • If you're looking to get into making espresso at home, a finer grind is a must! The Baratza Sette Conical Burr Coffee Grinder ($399) is a great option for a finer grind for espresso and will also work really well for any pour over or drip options. If you'd like to get real fancy, you could always upgrade to the Baratza Sette 270-wi Grind by Weight ($559) as it has a built in scale so it grinds by weight as well.

We wish you the best in picking the best grinder for you. Know that it will be worth it as fresh ground coffee is seriously the best thing ever. If you're looking for additional discounted rates on grinders or interested in other higher-end or coffee shop grade grinder options such as a Mazzer or Mahlkonig, please reach out to us as we are wholesale dealers with these companies and can help you in the ordering process.
